About Me

My photo
Alisa Kashdan
I truly believe I am the luckiest girl in the world. At 23 years old, I've had more life-changing experiences than most do in an entire lifetime. From sailing around the world to dancing down Main Street USA, I have to wonder how this is all real.

What's Next?

For the first time in a while, I'm not really sure where my life is headed. I'll be heading to Florida after graduation to continue working for Disney, but in terms of major plans, all I know is that I want to make a difference. I'm not sure where, and I'm not sure how, but unknowing adventure is an idea I've definitely become more comfortable with over the years.

role

I think I'll talk a little bit about my role - character performer!!

I got accepted for the role over a week ago, and the shock still has worn off...how in the world did I pass this audition? I haven't performed since high school, and even then I was never the lead. I'm a freaking history major in college, and I don't really see myself as the outgoing go-for-the-gold type. How in the world did I get this opportunity? I feel so blessed, but still, so suprised.

So here's what my job entails, according to the cp website.
Character Performer
Responsibilities may include:
  • Portraying specific costumed character roles
  • Working in hot, confining, heavy costumes with limited range of vision
  • Communicating non-verbally to Guests
  • Signing autographs and posing for photographs
  • Interacting with Guests outdoors and in dining establishments
  • Potential to perform in parade and/or puppeteer roles
  • Must pass audition for this role.

So I went to the auditions in Boston on March 24th. At that point I was on restricted rehire for the comapny and hadn't even heard if my status had been lifted. I'm from a Boston suburb and didn't have class on the day of the audition, so I kind of just figured what-the-hell? I'll hop on the T and check it out, it will be a fun experience. A few weeks later I got a phone call saying I did a great job and would I like to swtich from Fall to Fall Advantage. I planned on studying abroad in Spain this summer, but I said if there were no other options I would take it. And now I'm Fall Advantage. I'm not going to Spain, but I'll spending a semester at sea, so I'll be okay, and i'll be a character at disney!!

Characters at Disney are based on height. Although I am 5'1, the Disney cast members running the auditions measured all of us and the heights, like the costumes in Orlando, varied. So, although I didn't hear what my actual height was at the audition, I was given a mouse height upon acceptance, which means I was measured at 5'0 or below.

Mouse height characters can include:

  • Mickey
  • Minnie
  • Donald
  • Daisy
  • Lilo
  • Stitch
  • Piglet
  • Brer Rabbit
  • Dopey
  • Pinnochio
  • Jimminy Cricket

and more. It's hard to find a definite answer on what characters I may be, but this seems to be a pretty solid start. Anyway, its really exciting and I can't believe I am getting this opportunity. I just decided I was doing to CP though, so I'm really behind on the whole prepping process..and I haven't really met anyone yet which is kind of unforutante, but hopefully i'll meet a bunch of people in the next month and when I get there!

That's all for now,
-allie-
